Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Neville Avenue man, 22, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon illegally. Police said he was observed carrying a gun in his waistband.

A Barrington Road man, 33, was charged with criminal trespass and breaking and entering after police followed footsteps in the snow and found him hiding in a garage on Wye Drive. His vehicle contained items that had been stolen from cars.

A Springfield Township man, 51, was charged with breaking and entering after police reported seeing him remove scrap metal from the garage of a Morgan Avenue residence.

A Douglas Street man, 61, and a Maple Street man, 66, were charged with breaking and entering after police reported seeing them force entry into a secured, fenced-in area around Crosby school and take scrap metal.

Barberton

Arrest

A Second Street Northwest man, 19, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 19 after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend several times and broke her phone.

Robbery

Two armed robbers stole $213 Dec. 13 from a register at the Lo Boy Oil Co. on East Tuscarawas Avenue.

Burglary

A thief entered a Wooster Road North bedroom from the roof Dec. 18 and stole $1,300, an old computer and a PlayStation system.

A 14th Street Northwest woman told police Dec. 16 that her ex-husband kicked in a door at her home, stole a phone and fled. A warrant alleging domestic violence and burglary was issued for the Akron man, 42, of Chalker Street.

Thefts

A stove and refrigerator, total value $500, were reported stolen Dec. 19 from a West Hopocan Avenue rental unit while the house was being renovated following a fire.

A Barberton woman said her purse with $530 was stolen from a cart at Dollar Tree on Wooster Road North.

Bath Township

Criminal simulation

The manager of Barnes and Noble told police Dec. 20 that two counterfeit $50 bills were found in the store’s deposit Dec. 19.

Copley Township

Arrests

A Greensfield Lane man, 17, was charged with domestic abuse Dec. 26 after he allegedly attacked his father and threatened the lives of other people living in the residence.

A Cuyahoga Falls woman, 54, told police someone stole money from her wallet after she left it on a dresser while visiting her mother at Copley Health Center.

A Wilson Lane boy, 16, was charged with possession of drugs Dec. 24 after suffering a drug overdose while on Vicodin and marijuana.

Coventry Township

Burglary

A burglar entered a South Main Street home Dec. 16 and stole 12 diamond rings, other jewelry and other items, total value $2,800.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A Highpoint Lane man, 70, was charged with receiving stolen property Dec. 26 after he allegedly had a stolen dealer license plate on his vehicle.

A man and a woman were charged with theft and drug abuse Dec. 26.

An Akron woman, 22, was charged with felony theft Dec. 22 after she allegedly tried to steal $900 in merchandise from Toys R Us at 590 Howe Ave.

Assault

An Akron man, 33, told police Dec. 24 that he was walking in the 2300 block of Third Street when men assaulted him after demanding to know what was in his pockets. Nothing was taken. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Burglary

Someone broke into a home Dec. 24 in the 800 block of Davis Avenue and stole several gift cards.

Someone broke into a home Dec. 21 in the 2000 block of Stone Street and stole a television.

Someone broke into a home Dec. 20 in the 1500 block of Sixth Street and stole a television.

Identity theft

An 11th Street couple told police Dec. 26 that someone used their personal and credit card information to charge $2,400.

Theft

A $5,000 air conditioner was taken Dec. 24 from a Main Street business.

Fairlawn

Arrests

A Canton woman, 39, was charged with theft Dec. 24 after she allegedly tried to steal $97 worth of merchandise from Macy’s at Summit Mall.

An Akron man, 39, was charged with trying to steal $210 in clothes Dec. 23 from Dillard’s at Summit Mall.

A Cleveland man, 36, was charged with shoplifting Dec. 22 after he allegedly stole $160 in merchandise from Gymboree at Summit Mall.

Green

Breaking and entering

A DeWalt Drive resident told a deputy Dec. 14 that someone cut a lock, entered his shed and took four tires, total value $500.

Cash, an Xbox system and several other items, total value $800, were reported stolen Dec. 12 from a Sweitzer Road home.

Forgery

A spokesman for Natural Revelations on South Arlington Road told deputies Dec. 11 that someone forged $2,510 in checks in the firm’s name.

Norton

Arrests

A man, 42, was charged with theft and criminal trespassing Dec. 22 after he allegedly tried to leave Acme, 3200 Greenwich Road, without paying for a shopping cart filled with merchandise. He was arrested the day before on the same charge at an Acme in Akron.

Criminal damaging

An ATV driver damaged the lawn Dec. 24 at Barberton Brookside Country Club, 3727 Golf Course Drive.

Springfield Township

Arrest

A Lakemore boy, 11, was charged with inducing panic and carrying a concealed weapon Dec. 19 after he allegedly showed a knife to students on a bus. Police found the knife in his coat. He was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

Robbery

A man snatched the purse of a woman at a bus stop at South Arlington and Krumroy roads Dec. 14. He asked her when the next bus would arrive, grabbed the purse, dumped out its contents and ran with her wallet. The woman said it contained $701.

A health aide for a Kent Road nursing home told police Dec. 22 that someone threatened the staff.

Theft

A 57-year-old resident of a Kent Road nursing home told police Dec. 22 that someone took a bag from his room that contained $900, a debit card and other items.

Arrests

A South Munroe Road man, 46, was charged with gross sexual imposition Dec. 27.

Identity theft

A Lawndale Drive man reported Dec. 21 that someone used his identification to file a false income tax return and receive a refund.

A South Munroe Road man reported Dec. 27 that someone used his credit card and personal information to charge more than $7,000 in out-of-state transactions.

Medina County

Wadsworth

Arrests

A Third Street man, 26, was charged with unlawful restraint Dec. 25 after he allegedly held a woman down while trying to retrieve a cellphone.

A Third Street man, 22, was accused of domestic violence Dec. 26.

A juvenile was charged with domestic violence Dec. 26 following an incident at a Main Street restaurant.

Misuse of a credit card

A High Street man told police Dec. 27 that someone used his debit card for unauthorized transactions.

Theft

Four people filled two shopping carts with merchandise Dec. 27 and then took them to the service desk and returned the items for cash at Walmart, 222 E. Smokerise Drive. One man was identified through a driver’s license that he provided a clerk.

Theft by deception

A Clark Road couple told police Dec. 22 that a caller bilked them out of $400 through credit card and bank transactions. The caller said he was from Microsoft and wanted to check their computer remotely for a virus. He then sold them a “warranty” for which they provided a credit card number. The caller said the credit card did not go through, and asked for a second card number. He then asked for other personal information. When he asked for the balance of their checking account, they realized it was a scam.

Canal Fulton

Breaking and entering

A Plain Township man told police Dec. 16 that a $1,200 laptop computer was stolen from his vehicle on Elm Ridge Avenue.

Theft

Three canoes, total value $1,500, were reported stolen Dec. 9 from the Canal Fulton Canoe Livery on West Cherry Street.

Jackson Township

Arrests

A Portage Street Northwest man, 32, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 19 after he allegedly grabbed his wife’s neck and choked her during a quarrel over her purse.

A Fulton Drive Northwest man, 71, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 17 after he allegedly pushed his wife to the ground and stepped on her.

An Inn Circle Northwest man, 40, was arrested Dec. 19 on a warrant charging him with passing bad checks.

A Perry Township man, 33, of Colony Woods Circle, was charged with theft Dec. 15 after he allegedly tried to take $1,422 in goods from Fishers Foods on Fulton Drive Northwest.

A North Canton woman, 23, of Clearmount Avenue Southeast, was charged with theft Dec. 14 after she allegedly stole $800 from a register and $200 worth of women’s clothing from Kohl’s department store on Dressler Road Northwest.

A Fulton Drive Northwest man, 48, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 13 after he allegedly tried to harm his brother.

Domestic violence warrant

A Canton man, 29, of Shorb Avenue Northwest, was wanted Dec. 23 on a warrant alleging domestic violence and intimidation of a crime victim.

Burglary

A flat-screen TV, a PlayStation 3 game system and other items, total value $1,950, were reported stolen Dec. 11 from a Malabu Avenue Northwest home after a door was broken.

Thefts

Work tools and a trailer, total value $7,500, were stolen Dec. 12-16 from a Casper Avenue Northwest location.

A chain saw and $499 backpack blower were stolen Dec. 14 from a truck in the Acme Fresh Market parking lot on Whipple Avenue Northwest.

Two cross bows totaling $500 were stolen Dec. 11 from Fin Feather and Fur on Belden Village Street Northwest.

North Canton

Arrest

A Church Street Southwest man, 26, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 20 after he allegedly ransacked a living room and dining room and pushed a female to the floor.

Thefts

Two DVD players and other items, total value $500, were reported stolen Dec. 6 from a vehicle parked on Wise Avenue Northeast.

Jewelry valued at $4,550 was reported stolen Dec. 4 from a Valley Drive Northwest woman, who said the theft occurred while moving from Canton to North Canton.

Plain Township

Arrests

A Middlebranch Avenue Northeast woman, 24, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 14 after she allegedly threatened to harm another person several times.

A Canton man, 29, of Sixth Street Northeast was arrested Dec. 14 on a domestic violence warrant.

Burglary

Someone stole three watches and jewelry, total value $650, from a Diamond Street Northeast home Dec. 13.

Uniontown

Burglary

Someone stole a TV set, Xbox 360 and games, total value $699, from a Waterfall Avenue home Dec. 13.
