HARTVILLE
Sewage plant bid
HARTVILLE: Construction is expected to take 18 months on the reconstruction and expansion of the village sewage treatment plant.
Village Council awarded the contract Tuesday to the successful bidder, Jack Gibson Construction Co., for $5.9 million.
Capacity will be increased from 450 million gallons per day to 600 million gallons.
In other action, the village will apply for a $250,000 grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, acting as a conduit for the money to flow from the state to Enviropak for plastic recycling.
The company is using the former Longaberger property at 224 E. Maple St.

WADSWORTH
Sewer rates to rise
WADSWORTH: The City Council on Tuesday adopted an ordinance to raise sewer rates by 4.5 percent beginning Feb. 1.
Service Director Chris Easton said the rate hike is expected to raise homeowner bills an average of $2 monthly.
The need for the increase was determined by studies of the projected growth and expected future capital expenditures for the sewer system.
Another ordinance adopted was the renewal of an agreement with Ohio to have a Housing Revolving Loan Fund Administration.
The city received a number of grants to rehabilitate and make necessary repairs to residences in certain parts of the city, and this agreement is necessary for the city to continue to be eligible for those grants.
