Teenage girls dreaming of the perfect prom dress that’s both beautiful and affordable will have an opportunity to choose from an array of stylish formal dresses and gowns from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at East Market Street Church of God, 2084 East Market St., in Akron.
Everything is a free, and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
More than 400 gowns were collected and distributed last year so that teens with heavy financial struggles could feel confident and beautiful attending their prom or formal dance.
The is made possible by a special partnership between the Akron Area YMCA Teen Leaders Club and the East Market Street Church of God.
“The response and support of the community and area teens who donated their gowns and accessories was touching and simply amazing,” said Jennifer Pfeister, teen coordinator at the Lake Anna YMCA.
YMCA Teen Leaders Club is accepting clothing donations of formal dresses, accessories, jewelry, shoes and other offerings now through March 31 at all Akron-area YMCA locations.
