CUYAHOGA FALLS: A simple bar dispute ended in a very expensive night for a Cuyahoga Falls man.

Police said officers were called to a Chestnut Boulevard bar early Tuesday morning to settle an argument between two patrons.

By the time the night was over, Brandon Froehlich, 31, of Sixth Street, faced five different misdemeanor charges after he fought off and on with officers over his mounting charges, police said.

The first charge, disorderly conduct by intoxication, was brought for the altercation with another man at 1:30 a.m. at the Chestnut Beer Garden.

While the officer was writing that citation, police said Froehlich knocked the ticket out of the officer’s hand.

This brought citation No. 2 on a count of obstructing official business.

While being arrested on the second-degree misdemeanor, Froehlich resisted, police said, which resulted in the third charge, resisting arrest.

He was booked at the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department and released on a signature bond.

After Froehlich climbed into a car for a ride home, he began “yelling and screaming and hanging out of a moving car,” police reported.

Officers pursued the car and attempted to arrest him again, but he resisted again, police said. This time, police used a Taser to subdue him.

The last brush with the law resulted in charges four and five — another charge of resisting arrest and a charge of persistent disorderly conduct.

Froehlich’s night ended just hours later with an appearance before Stow Municipal Judge Lisa Coates, where he pleaded guilty to all the charges.

Police said if Froehlich had accepted the officer’s initial citation, he would have faced a $150 fine. Instead, he owes $1,576 in fines and court costs.

Coates also sentenced Froehlich to 90 days in jail, but suspended all but one day.

He was also placed on probation for six months and has to wear an alcohol monitoring device for 30 days. He must also complete 24 hours of community service.
