Arrests
A Nome Avenue man, 21, was charged with burglary. Police said the man admitted to a burglary at a Valdes Avenue home and also one on Packard Drive.
A South Rhodes Avenue man, 44, was charged with domestic violence and domestic violence menacing.
Barberton
Arrest warrant
Police were still searching May 20 for a former 25th Street Northwest man on a felony theft warrant for allegedly stealing an $1,170 laptop computer from the woman with whom he had been living until May 6.
Theft
An $800 motor was taken from a boat parked on the east side of a West Hopocan Avenue residence, according to a report filed May 10.
Coventry Township
Arrest
The daughter of a Bevan Street resident was arrested on two counts of theft May 14 after admitting to a sheriff’s deputy that she stole her mother’s credit card and used it to withdraw a total of $640.
Misuse of a credit card
A Kim Drive resident said May 4 that she dropped her credit card outside the Sheetz convenience store on West Waterloo Road and someone used it to accumulate several thousand dollars in charges.
Bath Township
Arrests
A 24-year-old woman was charged May 17 with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving under suspension, and providing false information to a peace officer. During a traffic stop, the woman gave police her sister’s social security number. When police discovered a warrant under that number, the woman produced her license and told police she lied because her license is suspended.
Copley Township
Arrests
A Ridgewood Road woman, 49, told police her juvenile daughter had gone missing May 21. She went to check on her daughter one night only to find the window open and her daughter gone. Responding officers eventually conducted a traffic stop on a suspected vehicle. The daughter was the passenger with a 19-year-old male driving. She was taken home, while the driver was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
A man who wears the Mario costume for Game Surge and waves at traffic was accused of stealing merchandise from the store. The 20-year-old employee admitted to hiding store merchandise in his costume and taking it to his car. He has since sold the items. He was issued a summons.
Three teenagers were issued a citation for driving without a license on May 19. Neither the driver nor passengers had a license. They were eventually picked up by the driver’s parents.
Misdial
Copley police had to question a Copley High School student who had dialed 911 13 times only to hang up each time. Police found the owner of the phone, who said her son had the phone at band practice. The student told officers that he apparently dialed the phone accidentally by bumping it during band practice.
Cuyahoga Falls
Arrests
A 16-year-old Myrtle Avenue boy was charged May 22 with domestic violence. He is accused of assaulting his mother.
A 16-year-old boy and his 19-year-old sister were charged May 20 with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. They are accused of entering Woodridge High School to confront students who were involved in an incident with their younger sister.
Burglary
A home in the 1600 block of Ninth Street was broken into May 21. Computers, game systems and video games were among the items taken.
Theft
An Akron man reported May 17 that his stolen golf clubs were sold to a Cuyahoga Falls resale shop.
Fairlawn
Arrests
Two Akron women were arrested May 22 for disturbing the peace at Summit Mall. Mall security said they were uncooperative and continued to argue with one another. In addition to being disruptive, a booster bag, which is a specialized bag used for theft, was found. One suspect, a 43-year-old woman was banned from the mall indefinitely.
A Copley woman, 20, was arrested on theft charges May 21. She allegedly tried to steal a bracelet from Dillard’s. Store security caught her on camera trying to conceal the bracelet. She has been banned from Dillard’s indefinitely. The bracelet had a value of $18.
A Canton man, 63, was arrested on theft charges May 21. He allegedly loaded a shopping cart with merchandise at Walmart and attempted to walk out of the store without paying for it. Security noticed him and stopped him in the parking lot.
Two Columbus women, 30 and 37, were arrested May 20. They allegedly stole $180 worth of merchandise from Buckles. They were later apprehended when trying to shoplift from TJ Maxx.
An Akron woman, 24, was arrested May 19 on a cruelty to animal charge. She allegedly left her dog in the car while she and her children went shopping. Responding officers noticed the dog panting, and gave it some water. They then waited for the owner to return. The suspect said she didn’t know leaving a dog in the car on a hot day was dangerous.

Theft
A Uniontown man said tools and other items were stolen from his van while he was at the Giant Eagle supermarket on Corporate Woods Parkway May 11.
New Franklin
Arrest
A 55-year-old West Turkeyfoot Lake Road man was jailed May 12 for domestic violence after his wife told police he broke several household items with a wooden stick and then hit her on the side of the head with the stick.
Theft
Video game equipment and games valued at $1,690 were reported stolen from a Renninger Road home May 10.
Norton
Theft by deception
An 86-year-old Rich Road man was a victim of the “grandparent scam” May 21. He told police he received a call from someone who told him his grandson was in jail in a foreign country, and he needed to send $2,000 to get him released. The man sent the money.
Springfield Township
Arrest
An Akron man, 18, of Lake Street, was jailed May 16 on a felonious assault warrant involving the May 11 stabbing of an Old Home Road man on the trolley tracks at the dead end of Chelsea Drive during an argument. Two days before the stabbing, $950 cash was reported stolen from the victim’s home during a break-in.
Arrest warrant
A warrant for felony receiving stolen property and theft was issued May 12 for a Canton man, 27, of Warner Road Southeast, involving the theft of $2,615 worth of merchandise from the Walmart store on South Arlington Street. Three others, a female, 26, of the wanted man’s address and two Massillon residents, a woman, 33, of Erie Street South, and man, 24, of 12th Street Southwest, were jailed on the same charges. Police said the Canton man fled as the items were being loaded into a vehicle. All the merchandise was recovered, police said.

A 47-year-old Kent man was charged during a traffic stop May 19 with unlawful display of a law enforcement emblem. Police said the man displayed a Fraternal Order of Police placard on his vehicle.
An 18-year-old Hudson man was charged May 18 with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, prohibitions, driving under suspension, and speeding during a traffic stop on state Route 8.
A 61-year-old Uniondale Drive man was charged May 17 with threatening domestic violence. He is accused of threatening a 57-year-old woman.
A 12-year-old Stow girl was charged May 17 with domestic violence. She is accused of assaulting a 41-year-old woman in the lobby of the police department.
Breaking and entering
Copper pipes were taken from a vacant home in the 3400 block of Kent Road, according to a May 20 report.
Burglary
Two computers were taken from an Echo Valley home May 20.
Weapons
Two 17-year-old girls walking in Wyoga Lake Park found a loaded pistol near the swim park area. Police determined that the gun was reported stolen from Akron in 2010.
Tallmadge
Arrests
A 24-year-old East Avenue man was charged May 22 with domestic violence. He is accused of assaulting his 90-year-old grandmother when she asked him about jewelry she was missing. She told police when she tried to call for help, her grandson pushed her into a chair and took away the phone.
A 42-year-old Danner Road woman was charged May 23 with domestic violence. A 71-year-old man reported to police the woman began punching and kicking him for no reason when he arrived home from work.
Misuse of a credit card
A credit card inside a wallet stolen May 23 from Kmart, 555 South Ave., was used at several businesses for unauthorized purchases.
Theft
A Sunset View Boulevard man reported he loaned his truck to a friend May 14. As of May 18, she had not returned the truck and was not answering his phone calls. After reporting the vehicle missing, the man returned home to find the title to the truck and a television missing. He was able to reach the woman who said she was at his home and broke the television, he told police.

A 24-year-old Simcox Street man was charged May 23 with domestic violence.
A 23-year-old Hard Street woman was charged May 22 with domestic violence.

Arrest
Police said a Manchester Road resident, 29, was jailed May 12 for felonious assault and resisting arrest, a day after police found him inside a vehicle with a hose stretching from the tailpipe. Police said he charged from the car at the officer and during a struggle he allegedly struck the officer in the abdomen and fled on foot.
Jackson Township
Arrests
A Canton man, 34, of Birchdale Road Northwest, was arrested at Kohl’s on Dressler Road Northwest on May 10 on two counts of theft of merchandise valued at $1,439.
Police jailed a 20th Street Northwest man, 56, for domestic violence May 3 for allegedly striking his daughter in the face and shoulder during an argument.
Forgery
A township resident told police May 13 he received a fake $2,450 check in the mail, telling him to deposit the check and keep $300 and send the rest via Western Union to a Texas location. He didn’t follow the instructions.
Thefts
Two catalytic converters, total value $750, were reported stolen off two vehicles May 15 at Miracle Plumbing on Whipple Avenue Northwest.
Police said a May 13 video showed a man reaching into a cash register at the Aldi store on Belden Village Street Northwest and fleeing with $1,071.
A $500 vase was reported stolen May 13 from a gravesite at Sunset Hills Burial Park Memorial Gardens on Everhard Road Northwest.
Power tools and a cellphone device, total value $800, were reported stolen May 11 from a Dominion East Ohio Gas truck outside Harbor Freight on Whipple Avenue Northwest.
A township resident said a $500 cellphone was taken while she was at Chuck E Cheese on Strip Avenue Northwest on May 8.
North Canton
Arrests
A Canton man, 21, of Westview Avenue Northwest, was booked May 14 on warrant charges of felony theft and forgery. He was accused of putting $10,492 on credit cards on Jan. 22 and April 20.
A Canton woman, 38, of Spring Avenue Northeast, was jailed May 9 on a warrant for felony receiving stolen property. The charge involved the theft of a passport, cash, medications and a firearm, total value $1,201.
Plain Township
Arrests
An Orchardale Drive Northwest woman, 20, was jailed for domestic violence May 15 for allegedly throwing a bottle at another female and then pushing her down.
A domestic violence charge was filed against a Garnet Avenue Northeast man, 50, on May 14. He allegedly threw an object at one female and threatened to break her arm and then grabbed and pushed a second female, a sheriff’s report showed.
A Kirby Avenue Northeast man, 46, turned himself in at the Stark sheriff’s office May 13 on a warrant for felony robbery.
A 21-year-old 41st Street Northwest man was arrested on 38th Street at Kingman Avenue Northwest on May 12 on warrants charging two counts of felony domestic violence, aggravated menacing and burglary, obstructing official business and criminal damage.

An Edison Street Northwest man, 34, was jailed for felony domestic violence May 15 after his live-in girlfriend was struck on the knee and pushed.
Wayne County
Wayne Sheriff
Arrest
A Wooster man, 20, was arrested May 17 on charges of possession of drugs, possession of heroin, possessing drug abuse instrument and drug paraphernalia while he was a passenger in a car that was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint at Akron Road and Gates Drive in Chippewa Township. Deputies also found that the man had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Burglary
A television, Wii game system and other items, total value $977, were reported taken May 18 from a residence in the 100 block of Wadsworth Road, East Union Township.
Criminal mischief
A Sugar Creek Township resident reported May 16 that several windows and tires on vehicles were damaged in the 18400 block of Krug Road. Damages were estimated at $1,400.
Thefts
A Wayne Township veterinarian reported that medicines valued at $11,000 were stolen May 15 from him in Lorain County.
Tools and firearms valued at $3,404 were reported stolen May 14 from Quality Installation Group, 5524 N. Mount Eaton Road, Baughman Township.
Tools valued at $1,110 were reported taken May 18 from a garage in the 6800 block of Weilersville Road, Green Township.
Three refrigerators, a storage bin, steel fences and gates, total value $1,001, were reported taken May 14 from a residence in the 6500 block of Burbank Road, Wayne Township.
A Green Township woman, 76, reported May 10 that she believes a relative took $190, two checkbooks and forged several checks from her residence in the 4400 block of Egypt Road.
Wooster
Arrest
A Wooster man, 18, was arrested May 18 on a charge of burglary after he allegedly took shoes and a baseball valued at $130 from a residence in the 3400 block of Friendsville Road.
Breaking and entering
Copper tubing and wiring valued at $5,923 were reported stolen May 16 from Guenther Mechanical Inc., 1800 Akron Road.
Burglary
A firearm valued at $200 was reported stolen May 19 from a residence in the 700 block of East Henry Street.
A television valued at $510 was reported taken May 17 from a residence in the 2700 block of Cleveland Road.
Theft
A stolen check which was forged for $700 was reportedly cashed May 13 at Bowman Beverage, 927 E. Bowman St.
