The Mary S. and David C. Corbin Foundation has awarded $462,500 in grants and gifts to charities and charitable activities, mostly in the Akron and Summit County areas.
The largest award, $150,000, went to Akron Children’s Hospital for its Building on the Promise capital campaign.

• Akron Community Service Center & Urban League, $5,000 for its Summer Enrichment Day Camp.
• Akron General Development Foundation , $10,000 for an on-site medical clinic at East Akron Community House.
• Akron Marathon Corp., $7,000 for two interns.
• Battered Women’s Shelter, $15,000 for its Summit County Crisis Intervention Program.
• Boys and Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve, $10,000 for direct programming costs.
• Cleveland Modern Dance Association, $5,000 for Summit County outreach.
• Cow Creek Presbyterian Church, $3,000 for a 2013 contribution.
• Downtown Akron Partnership, $4,000 for its Downtown Akron beautification program.
• First Book, $5,000 for its Everyone Reads Initiative.
• Freedom House for Women Inc., $10,000 for its Adult Supportive Services program.
• Friends of Children’s Hospital Harness Race Rally, $2,000 for a 2013 contribution.
• Guidestone, $5,000 for its move into a new location.
• Hattie Larlham Community Living, $9,000 for its Akron Urban Garden.
• International Soap Box Derby Inc., $25,000 for the 76th All-American Soap Box Derby and its Gravity Race Challenge.
• Junior Achievement of North Central, Ohio, $5,000 for Summit County school programs.
• Leadership Akron, $5,000 for the Class XXX yearbook.
• Legacy III Inc., $5,000 for its Humble Beginnings program.
• Let’s Grow Akron Inc., $10,000 for operating costs.
• Magical Theatre Co., $7,500 for its residence performance program.
• Musical Arts Association-Cleveland Orchestra (Blossom Music Center), $40,000 for its 2013 Blossom Festival.
• Nazareth Housing Development Corp., $15,000 for its Operation Alteration.
• Ohio Shakespeare Festival, $5,000 for its 2013 season.
• Ohio Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Park, $15,000 for a Gold Star Father statue.
• Pregnancy Care of Summit County, $10,000 for its GUIDE program.
• Progress Through Preservation, $5,000 for a fourth gift to Preservation House Restoration.
• Rape Crisis Center, $10,000 for its sexual assault victim advocacy program.
• Rebuilding Together Summit County, $10,000 for its Safe at Home program.
• RED Company (real.edge.dance), $5,000 for its third season.
• Stewart’s Caring Place, $10,000 for its new program service model.
• Summit County Children Services Women’s Auxiliary Board, $4,000 for a 2013 contribution.
• Tuesday Musical Club, $6,000 for its education and outreach program.
• Weathervane Community Playhouse Inc., $10,000 for its semiannual newsletter and 2012-2013 season.
• Western Reserve Historical Society (Hale Farm & Village), $10,000 for its Adopt-a-School program for Leggett elementary in Akron.
