Barberton has announced the following emergency flood relief help for residents:

• A program will help owner-occupied homes in flood areas in the assessment, repair and/or replacement of furnaces, hot water tanks and electric boxes. Call 330-861-7279 and leave your name, address and contact information.

• Residents may place any trash on the curb, beginning immediately, to be picked up “at some point in time,” the city said. There is no extra charge for things that do not fit in the containers provided to homeowners. After the trash is picked up, future excess flood-related trash can be deposited in trash bins that will be announced later.

• Homeowners may request a small container of free sanitizer to assist in cleaning flooded basements or other areas, to be delivered by a city employee. Call 330-861-7279 and leave your name, address and contact information. Those delivering the sanitizer will have identification.

• Residents displaced by flooding can take refuge at Lake Anna Y. The shelter is being operated by the YMCA, the city, and the Salvation Army. Donations of food, water, blankets and personal hygiene items are being accepted.
