Summit County Office of Consumer Affairs looking for new director

Summit County officials are looking for a replacement to head the Office of Consumer Affairs, which has been without a director since May.

Cynthia Sich took a similar position at the Cuyahoga County Office of Consumer Affairs. She did not return a phone call seeking comment.

Jason Dodson, chief of staff for Summit County Executive Russ Pry, said the county has been interviewing potential replacements for Sich but has not made a hire.

Dodson said there have been some changes to the county agency. Earlier this year, the agency was consolidated into Pry’s office and will report directly to the law department. He said the agency still will function as it always has, however: helping consumers with their issues.

“We have no plans as far as dissolving or doing away with the office,” Dodson said. “Cindy left to take a new position, and following her departure we are evaluating who to put in that position.”

Sich joined the office in 2005, when the office was created. At the time, it was the only such office within a county in the state.

Dodson said consumers can still file complaints with the office, though there is only one staffer. An administrative assistant position also has remained unfilled.

The office can be reached at 330-643-2879.
