Thefts
Jewelry valued at $6,200 was reported stolen July 25 from an East Tuscarawas Avenue residence.
Another $1,350 worth of jewelry was reported stolen July 25 from a Rubber Street residence.
Coins valued at $5,000 were listed as stolen July 24 from a home on Wooster Road North.
A PlayStation 3 and other items, total value $670, were stolen from a Sylvester Street home July 22.
On July 22, the owner of an Eighth Street Northwest vacant home told police that copper valued at $500 was missing from the basement.

Two sets of golf clubs, a TV and other items, totaling $4,900, were stolen after a window was broken to enter a Teal Circle home July 24.

A former employee of Speedway, 2026 Bailey Road, was charged July 31 with theft. She is accused of stealing $500 from the company.

A woman reported that her brother, 63, was assaulted in a parking lot in the 2200 block of Winter Parkway.

A home in the 200 block of Victor Avenue was broken into Aug. 1, but nothing appeared to be missing.
Someone stole checks July 29 from a home in the 1800 block of Second Street.
Electronics and handguns were stolen July 29 from a home in the 2600 block of Maitland Avenue.
Suspicious person
A Birchwood Avenue man reported Aug. 1 that a man approached his 11-year-old son in the 2700 block of Oakwood Drive and asked the boy if he wanted to see a pet in the man’s truck. The boy declined and left the area. Police are investigating.
Theft
A gun and personal papers were taken from a home in the 3300 block of Caleb Street between July 29 and Aug. 1.
A Best Buy employee reported July 31 that a man took an Apple TV, valued at $99, from the store by hiding it in his pants.
A 1993 Ford Crown Victoria was stolen from a driveway in the 3000 block of Prior Drive on July 31.
A purse was stolen from an unattended shopping cart in the parking lot of Acme, 2630 Bailey Road, July 30. The purse contained credit cards, $250 and other items.
Landscaping equipment was stolen from a job site in the 3500 block of Grant Avenue on July 31.

A Lake Township man, of Lee Street Northwest, was jailed on a burglary warrant July 24 after he was arrested on Lauby Road at the Interstate 77 off ramp to Akron-Canton Airport.

A Karla Drive man said July 27 that someone located a hidden spare key and entered his residence, taking a wedding ring, TV and other items, total value $2,400.
Thefts
A medical bag, iPod, purse and other items, total value $1,100, were reported stolen from four vehicles parked at the Hilton Garden Inn on Lauby Road on July 27.
Golf clubs and bag, total value $1,400, were stolen July 26 from an Ashton Drive man’s golf cart.
A Midland, Texas, man said he was staying at the Hampton Inn on South Arlington Road on July 22 when his vehicle was forced open. Luggage, clothing and a pistol, total value $3,100, were stolen. A Galveston, Texas, man also at the inn said several windows were broken in his vehicle and a $500 iPad was stolen.
A Nine Iron Drive resident told authorities July 11 that two rent checks, total value $700, were taken from a drop box at his apartment complex.

A Doylestown man, 18, and an Akron woman, 19, were charged July 28 with underage drinking. The man also was charged with drug possession. Police investigating a suspicious vehicle in a Cleveland-Massillon Road parking lot reported finding Percocet, marijuana and beer in the car.
Burglary
A home in the 2900 block of Haynes Street was looted July 27. Eight envelopes containing personal checks were stolen.
Identity theft
A Swain Drive woman reported July 29 someone used her deceased husband’s personal information to open a utility account, leaving a delinquent bill of nearly $500.
Misuse of a credit card
A Taylor Road woman reported July 28 someone used her daughter’s debit card to make an unauthorized purchase at a Pennsylvania Walmart.
Vandalism
A Noble Street man reported July 29 someone spray-painted his Ford Mustang black, then spray-painted smiley faces on the car.
Springfield Township
Arrests
An Akron man, 43, of Rowe Street, was jailed July 28 on a warrant charging him with breaking and entering following an incident in mid-April. Three individuals told police that items, total value $5,650, were stolen from their units at Taylor’s Mini Storage on Canton Road. A second suspect was arrested previously and charged with receiving stolen property, police said.
An East Turkeyfoot Lake Road man, 45, was jailed on a charge of felony domestic violence July 18 after a witness told police the suspect was seen punching his girlfriend in the face before she jumped from their vehicle. The man was arrested at a Ripley Avenue location.

Two chain saws and other items, total value $2,300, were stolen from a shed at a Gregory Drive home July 25.
Burglary
A flat-screen TV valued at $650 was reported stolen July 23 from a Pawnee Boulevard home.
Jewelry and medications valued at $1,100 were stolen from a Delaware Avenue home July 22.
A thief entered an attached garage on Rolling Meadows Lane on July 22 and fled with a paint sprayer, tools and other items, total value $5,830.

A Pressler Road resident said a female used his personal information to open a Dominion East Ohio Gas account, which is now $2,868 past due.
Theft
A $1,000 computer owned by Akron Public Schools was stolen from a Foxford Court residence. A homeless man, 23, was being sought by police.

Arrests
A 41-year-old Warren woman was charged Aug. 1 with theft and possession of criminal tools. She is accused of stealing two cameras from Target, 4200 Kent Road, and hiding them in a foil-lined bag to avoid detection.
A 24-year-old Akron man was charged July 31 with forgery. He is accused of using a counterfeit $100 bill to buy merchandise at Walmart, 3520 Hudson Drive. Police said they found three similar bills when the man was arrested.
Arson
A man reported July 29 someone set his work van on fire while he was sleeping. Items were removed from the van before it was ignited.

Someone broke into a home that is being renovated in the 3900 block of Hiwood Avenue and took a hot water heater between June 1 and July 31.
Identity theft
A Springdale Road man reported July 25 that someone used his personal information to open two credit card accounts in his name. The accounts were closed before any charges were made.

The manager of Get-Go, 3845 Darrow Road, reported Aug. 1 that a woman has been borrowing Giant Eagle discount cards from customers buying gas, then pumping gas into her vehicle and leaving without paying.

A man was charged July 27 with domestic violence. He is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend at her North Thomas Road residence.
A 57-year-old Akron man was charged July 29 with possession of marijuana. The drugs were found by police during a traffic stop.
A 26-year-old Norton man was charged July 29 with possession of a drug abuse instrument.
A 14-year-old Ledgebrook Road girl was charged July 27 with domestic violence and resisting arrest. She is accused of choking her mother because she wouldn’t give the teen her car keys, then scuffling with officers during her arrest.
A man was charged July 31 with possession of a drug abuse instrument and drug paraphernalia. Police were called to the 200 block of West Avenue, where they found the man and his friend. The friend told police the man took a drug, then passed out in the friend’s truck. Police found a syringe, burnt spoon and a plastic bag containing white powder.
Assault
A Giant Eagle employee, 48, reported he was assaulted by a co-worker at the West Avenue store.
Theft
A North Thomas Road man reported July 26 someone removed a check from his mailbox and cashed it.
Vandalism
A Woods Drive man reported July 24 that while outside inspecting new windows, he found a bullet hole near one of the windows. The spent casing was found on top of his dresser. Police have no suspects.

Assault
Police were called to Southwick Boulevard after a basketball game turned violent. One player was headbutted by another.
Impaired pedestrian
The Ohio Highway Patrol asked Brunswick police to assist with a drunk man on Pearl Road on Aug. 1. The man was hitting his head inside of the patrol’s cruiser. He was cited for disorderly conduct and obstructing official business.

A woman called police July 29 upset that her husband would not go to the hospital. Officers advised the woman that her husband “seemed competent to make that decision” on his own.
A business in the 1000 block of South Court reported the theft of scrap tires on July 21.
Suspicious person
Officers found a man “tampering” with garbage at a North Court Street business on July 31. He was charged with criminal mischief and trespassing.

Assault
Officers were called to Eastpoint Drive on July 28 for a report of a male being hit in the head with a beer bottle. Two individuals told officers that everything was fine and the injured male was gone.
Abduction attempt
A girl told her father July 27 that a man tried to get her to go with him. The suspect denied the allegation. Police plan to review a video of the incident.

Suspicious person
Police were called to the 2900 block of Medina Road on July 28 for a man who was bobbing his head in a vehicle at the BP station. He checked out OK.
Customer dispute
A customer called police Aug. 2 to complain that he did not receive $20 in pre-paid gas from a pump. The gas station showed that the customer did pump 5.465 gallons of gas into his vehicle. The customer said his tank still showed it was on “E” — it read half a tank when the officer checked.

A Broad Street man, 32, was charged July 29 with domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Fraud
Police received a report July 29 from Walmart, 222 E. Smokerise Drive, that someone used a fake gift card to purchase an iPad.

A resident reported July 30 that someone forged and cashed several of her checks.

Police are investigating a July 28 report of theft by an employee from a Broad Street business.

Arrests
Two 20-year-old men were arrested Aug. 1 in the 100 block of North Water Street. They were charged with underage drinking and criminal trespass. One of the men also is charged with obstructing official business.
A homeless woman, 21, was arrested July 31 in the 1300 block of Fairchild Avenue on warrants for failure to appear in court, illegal manufacture of drugs, assembly of chemicals used in the manufacture of drugs and aggravated drug possession. She also faces a charge of falsification.

Arrest
Charges of forgery and disrupting official business were lodged against a Canton man, 45, of Dueber Avenue Southwest. He is accused of taking $170 in clothes from Macy’s at Westfield Belden Village Mall on July 27.
Burglary
A PlayStation 3 system and other items, total value $680, were stolen July 24 from a Miles Avenue Northwest apartment.
Thefts
On July 24, someone broke a car window at Kindercare Pre-School on Dressler Road Northwest and fled with a purse, cash and contents totaling $730. On July 18, another township resident told police someone entered her van’s unlocked door and took a purse, cash and other items, total value $990.
A purse and cash, total value $1,100, were stolen July 22 from a vehicle at the Powerhouse Gym on Promler Avenue Northwest.
A spokesperson for RAB Communications on Promway Avenue Northwest said July 22 that a DVD and modem plus miscellaneous tools, total value $1,033, were taken by two former employees who had been terminated and had failed to return the items.

A Farrell Street Southeast resident told police July 23 that three bicycles, total value $1,300, were stolen from her garage because the door was left open.

A Beverly Avenue Northeast man was jailed on a charge of domestic violence July 25 after police said he pushed the mother of their child against a wall and tried to take the child from her arms during an altercation.
A Canton man, 28, of Miami Court Northeast was jailed on charges of domestic violence and aggravated burglary July 25 when arrested on a warrant by U.S. marshals at a 30th Street Northeast location.

Arrest
An Orrville man, 25, was arrested July 27 on a charge of possession of cocaine after deputies said they found the drug during a traffic stop on Old Lincoln Way.
Assault
A deputy reported July 23 that he received minor injuries after an inmate at Wayne County Jail assaulted him.

Tools, fishing equipment and two hunting bows, total value $1,500, were reported stolen July 30 from a storage unit in the 10200 block of East Easton Road, Milton Township.
Someone broke three door frames and a window, causing $350 in damage, July 27 at a building at the Wayne County Fairgrounds, 199 Vanover St., Wooster.
A generator valued at $500 was reported taken July 27 from a garage in the 6000 block of East Steiner Road, Milton Township.
Lawn equipment and tools worth $2,440 were reported stolen July 28 from a shed at St. Anne Catholic Church, 8200 East Easton Road, Milton Township.

A Chippewa Township resident reported July 26 that 300 gallons of diesel fuel worth $1,000 were taken from a residence in the 10500 block of Coal Bank Road.

Arrests
A Wooster woman, 30, was arrested July 29 on charges of shoplifting and possessing drug paraphernalia after she was found with cocaine and items reported taken from Family Dollar, 239 W. Liberty St. Police said the woman also was found with cocaine July 28 during a traffic stop on East Bowman Street, but she denied the drug belonged to her.
A Wooster man, 30, was arrested July 27 on a charge of drug abuse after police said they found him with cocaine in the 300 block of East Bowman Street.
Two Wooster women, 28 and 25, were arrested July 29 on three charges of trafficking in drugs and two counts of possession of drugs during a raid on a suspected drug house in the 300 block of North Grant Street. Police seized $1,625 in drug items and ammunition magazines.
A Wooster man, 25, was arrested July 26 on a charge of domestic violence after a woman complained of an assault at a residence in the 500 block of North Buckeye Street.
Thefts
A motor scooter valued at $500 was reported stolen July 29 from a residence in the 1600 block of Mechanicsburg Road.
A wallet with $70 was reported taken July 30 from a residence in the 4900 block of Pine Ridge Drive.
Vandalism
Someone threw rocks at railroad equipment and damaged two CSX railroad cars in the 700 block of Spruce Street. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
