Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Lake Street woman, 26, and a Mineola Avenue man, 21, were charged with aggravated burglary. Police said officers were called to a Lake Street apartment for a call about a fight. Officers said that the pair knocked on the door and asked for salt which the resident gave them. The pair then forced their way into the apartment and assaulted three people with baseball bats and belts.

A Silvercrest Avenue woman, 20, was charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing official business. Police said the woman was found to be hiding drugs inside her home.

A Hunt Street woman, 19, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said the woman was found to be driving a stolen vehicle on East Exchange Street.

An East Crosier Street man, 19, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said the man was found to be driving a stolen vehicle on Chittenden Street.

A Romig Road man, 24, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon illegally and obstructing official business. Police said officers were called to a Fleming Drive residence for a person with a gun. The man was arrested and the gun was found on the ground.

A Botnik Plaza woman, 47, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Police said that the woman rented a vehicle from Enterprise on March 1 and was to return it the next day but failed to do so.

A Westgay Drive man, 56, was charged with aggravated burglary, felonious assault, domestic violence and domestic violence menacing.

An East Avenue man, 47, was charged with domestic violence and domestic violence menacing.

Barberton

Arrests

A Benton Street man, 41, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Oct. 10 for allegedly pushing a Newcomerstown woman on the stairs of his home during an argument.

Police responded to a disturbance on South Van Buren Avenue on Oct. 8 and arrested a Parkview Avenue man, 29, on warrants for domestic violence and child endangering.

An Eighth Street Northwest man, 22, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Oct. 7 after a Barberton woman said the suspect carried her against her will into his home during an argument, pushed her several times and restrained her.

Thefts

A Diamond Avenue resident said Oct. 9 that she discovered $800 in purchases that she didn’t make or authorize, police said.

A part owner of Rockhill Machine on Fourth Street Northwest told police Oct. 10 that since April someone has stolen carbide tools, several pieces of bronze and other items, total value $35,460, from the facility.

Two pool sticks and other items, total value $1,475, were reported stolen Oct. 4 from a Central Avenue man’s vehicle parked in front of his home.

Bath Township

Arrests

A 40-year-old man was charged Oct. 13 with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, OVI with a prior refusal, failure to drive within marked lanes and not wearing a seatbelt. He was additionally charged by Ohio State Patrol with improper backing. Police stopped the man on Interstate 77 for driving erratically. After the man pulled onto the berm, he backed his vehicle into the police cruiser, according to a police report.

Forgery

A West Point Avenue couple reported that someone used their debit card for unauthorized transactions Oct. 12.

Copley

Theft

A supervisor at Home Depot told police someone stole a DeWalt drill/saw combo kit valued at $499.99 on Oct. 17. He said the suspect removed the security device and left the store.

Fraud

A Royal Crest woman, 40, told police someone used her address and Social Security number to open an AT&T account on Oct. 15. She has closed the account.

Coventry Township

Arrests

A Willowview Drive man, 32, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Oct. 7 after Summit deputies said he threatened his estranged wife.

A North House Drive man, 22, was booked on a charge of domestic violence Oct. 7 after he reportedly hit his teenage sister and tried to choke her.

A Wooster man, 25, and woman, 35, both of Columbus Road, were jailed on charges of domestic violence Oct. 3 at the Lakeside Motel on Manchester Road.

Burglary

Bonds totaling $45,000, plus jewelry and two revolvers were reported stolen Oct. 10 from a West Long Lake Road home.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A 43-year-old East Broadway Street man was charged Oct. 13 with resisting arrest and drug possession. Police arranged a ride home for the man, who reportedly was intoxicated, then found him at a neighbor’s home, where he was loud and using profanities.

A 46-year-old woman was charged Oct. 14 with disorderly conduct. Police were called to the Gorge Metropark parking lot, 1160 Front St., around 2 a.m., when a woman was heard screaming. Police and firefighters searched for the woman for several hours. She was found passed out in the woods.

A 32-year-old Kennedy Boulevard woman was charged Oct. 15 with domestic violence. She is accused of biting her mother’s finger.

A 16-year-old Schnee sophomore was charged Oct. 11 with drug possession. A teacher reported she found a book bag in the classroom. She spotted a large plastic bag containing eight smaller bags of marijuana.

A 63-year-old Elmwood Avenue woman was charged Oct. 17 with assault. She is accused of slapping a neighbor over a property line dispute.

Breaking and entering

A television was stolen from the VFW Post 1062, 1581 Main St., during a break-in Oct. 14.

Burglary

About $800 worth of property was stolen during the burglary of a Second Street home Oct. 16.

A home in the 2100 block of Albertson Parkway was broken into Oct. 18. Property valued at $500 was taken.

Drugs found

A backpack found on a hiking trail in the 1600 block of Front Street on Oct. 18 contained a portable methamphetamine lab.

Robbery

A 45-year-old Kathron Avenue man reported Oct. 14 that a man assaulted him outside a bar in the 2300 block of Front Street. He said the suspect then took his driver’s license, a blank check and $7 from his wallet. The check later was presented unsuccessfully for cash at a local bank.

Theft

A Ninth Street woman reported Oct. 15 that she applied for a $25,000 loan through an Internet company. She said she paid a $550 fee but never received the loan.

Hudson

Arrests

A Victoria Parkway woman was charged Oct. 12 with domestic violence.

Fairlawn

Arrests

An Akron woman, 21, was arrested on theft charges Oct. 17. She allegedly tried to steal a pair of jeans from Dillard’s in Summit Mall by concealing the jeans in a large handbag lined with duct tape. The jeans were valued at $39.99. She was banned from Dillard’s indefinitely.

An Akron man, 29, was arrested for violating a protection order Oct. 16. Officers found out about the protection order after he was in an argument with his girlfriend, who was the protected party.

Thefts

Unknown persons tried to break into a shed at the Learning Resource Center at Fort Island Park on Trunko Road on Oct 12. The doors were damaged, but no one gained entry. The service department repaired the doors before police were notified.

A man convinced a Walgreens employee to give him an extra $50 on Oct. 10. The suspect allegedly gave the cashier a $100 bill. He then started asking for different change denominations. According to police reports, he has done this at other Walgreens.

Green

Arrest

Three Akron men were jailed Oct. 6 following an incident that involved the theft of heroin from one of two vehicles, Summit deputies said. There was an ensuing chase on Interstate 77 before the cars were stopped by deputies near mile post 120. Charged with aggravated menacing were a Fulton Street man, 22, and a South Arlington Street man, 24. An East Park Boulevard man was jailed for obstructing official business, a deputy’s report showed.

Burglary

Jewelry, old coins and a bag of tokens, total value $2,204, were reported stolen Oct. 9 from a Bobwhite Trail home.

New Franklin

Breaking and entering

A mower with a 61-inch deck, total value $1,200, was reported stolen Oct. 6 from a Grove Road home’s unattached garage.

Norton

Burglary


Burglars entered a home on Krancz Drive between Sept. 24 and Oct. 15. A computer monitor, flat-screen television and framed pictures were among the items taken. The property owner told police she suspects an ex-boyfriend because the stolen pictures were of her new boyfriend.

Found property

A Cleveland-Massillon Road man reported Oct. 15 that he found a motorcycle in the side yard of his home. Police contacted the Barberton owner of the bike, who did not know it had been stolen.

Springfield Township

Arrests

A Canfield Road boy, 15, was booked at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of aggravated menacing and resisting arrest Oct. 5 after police said the suspect had posted on Facebook “I am coming to get you” and threatened a Springfield High School student, 16, at the school.

A Carper Avenue man, 19, was jailed for inducing panic Oct. 4 for allegedly brandishing a gun and threatening to harm a female and others at the residence.

On Oct. 6, police charged a Mogadore Road man, 24, with misuse of a credit card five days after a township resident said her credit card, video games and equipment and other items were stolen and more than $700 in unauthorized charges were made on the stolen card.

Forgery

Police were alerted Oct. 4 that a male and female used counterfeit checks to purchase $804 worth of gift cards from Giant Eagle on East Waterloo Road. Similar incidents were reported at Giant Eagle stores in Akron, Wadsworth and Barberton, police said.

Burglary

A 55-inch TV, total value $1,100, was reported stolen Oct. 3 from a Saratoga Trail home.

Theft

A township resident told police on Oct. 5 that he was hospitalized for five days and that $14,900 worth of tools and equipment had been stolen from his residence.

Stow

Arrests

A 27-year-old Meadowbrook Court man was arrested Oct. 10 on a charge of felony drug possession.

A 49-year-old Grapevine Circle man was charged Oct. 19 with disorderly conduct. Witnesses told police the suspect was drunk and threatened another man with a knife inside a Fishcreek Road business. The man who was threatened left before police arrived.

A 69-year-old man was charged Oct. 15 with disorderly conduct. He is accused of urinating in the backyard of a Park Vista Court home.

Burglary

A home in the 1200 block of Meadowbrook Street was broken into between Oct. 10 and Oct. 12. Copper pipe was taken.

A man who was asked to leave an Arndale Road home Oct. 10, snuck back into another unlocked door.

Theft

Tools valued at more than $1,100 were taken from an unlocked trailer in the 1800 block of Ritchie Road on Oct. 12.

Tallmadge

Arrests

A 17-year-old Akron boy was charged Oct. 12 with sexual battery after an investigation.

Breaking and entering

Someone cut phone lines to disable an alarm before breaking into a West Avenue pharmacy Oct. 11. About $250 was taken and the store was ransacked. Two cabinet drawers were damaged. There did not appear to be drugs missing, but an inventory was pending.

Fraud

An East Garwood Street man reported Oct. 12 that he arranged to purchase a vehicle from a Craigslist seller for $2,400. The seller told the man he was in the military and had him wire cash to Seattle. He said the military would take care of shipping. The seller then told the buyer he needed to send another $1,200 for shipping. The buyer told police that is when he realized the sale was a scam.

Theft

A handgun was stolen from a vehicle parked at a residence in the 800 block of Northwest Avenue Oct. 14.

Medina County

Wadsworth

Theft

Two spools of electrical wire and three other spools of wire were taken from a construction site at Wadsworth High School on Oct. 18.

A wheelchair was reported stolen Oct. 18 from a porch in the 300 block of Tanglewood Trail.

A High Street business reported Oct. 14 a flat-screen television was stolen from the business.

Portage County

Kent

Arrests

A 21-year-old Chesterland man was charged Oct. 16 with receiving stolen property and misuse of a credit card.

A 19-year-old Golden Oaks Drive man was charged Oct. 15 with domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A 49-year-old East School Street man was charged Oct. 12 with domestic violence and obstructing official business.

A 41-year-old Cleveland man was charged Oct. 14 with disorderly conduct, aggravated trespass and resisting arrest.

An Akron man was arrested Oct. 12 on a charge of burglary.

A 22-year-old Stow man was arrested Oct. 11 on a burglary charge.

Breaking and entering

A Stratford Drive building was broken into Oct. 14. A LED message board, chair cushion and pumpkin were taken.

Stark County

Canal Fulton

Arrest

A 23-year-old North Canal Street woman was jailed Oct. 4 on a charge of domestic violence.

Theft

Five 55-gallon barrels of aluminum scrap, total value $550, were reported stolen Oct. 4 from Tek USA on Elm Ridge Avenue.

Jackson Township

Arrests

A Wadsworth man, 54, of Euclid Avenue, was booked at the Stark County Jail on Oct. 6 on charges of voyeurism and criminal trespassing at the Tinseltown movie complex on Mega Street Northwest. Police said he was in a women’s restroom stall as a witness was using an adjacent stall. He fled on foot and was apprehended in a nearby wooded area.

A Barberton woman, 21, of Fifth Street Northwest, was jailed for domestic violence Oct. 6 after she allegedly argued with her mother in a car on Everhard Road at Whipple Avenue Northwest. She was accused of punching her mother and pulling her hair while the suspect’s three children were in the back seat, police said.

Robbery

Police said a man brandished a handgun and demanded money from the cash registers before fleeing on foot with about $100 from the Circle K convenience store on Portage Street Northwest on Oct. 9.

Breaking and entering

An estimated $100,513 worth of equipment and a trailer were reported stolen Oct. 5 from Canterbury Enterprises on Hills and Dales Road Northwest. A manager said forced entry resulted in the theft of seven large mowers, seven trimmers, seven blowers plus the trailer.

Theft

A trunk lid and rear bumper cover, total value $1,107, were stolen from a 2012 Toyota Camry on Oct. 5 at Cain Toyota-Scion-BMW on Whipple Avenue Northwest. Lake Township

Arrest

A Perrydale Street Northwest resident was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Oct. 8. A Stark sheriff’s deputy’s report indicated she broke a picture frame over a man’s head as he attempted to leave, pulled his hair and hit him several times.

North Canton

Arrest

A Parma man, 31, was jailed for theft Oct. 5. According to police, a West Maple Street resident paid the suspect $7,100 to fix her roof and the work was never done.

Thefts

A Summit Street Southeast woman said Oct. 2 that she was duped out of $3,760 when a man whom she thought was one of her sons called and said he was in jail and needed money to get out. Two wires totaling the full amount requested were sent to Mexico City, police said.

A revolver and other items, total value $2,852, were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Meadowlane Drive Southeast man’s driveway.

Plain Township

Arrests

Charges of domestic violence and menacing were lodged against a Shriver Avenue Northeast man, 32, on Oct. 7 for threatening to harm a man at a Middlebranch Avenue Northeast residence. Police said he also grabbed and threatened a woman. At the same location and date, a Lynx Avenue Northeast man, 60, was jailed for domestic violence for grabbing his wife by the shirt, lifting her off the ground and then pushing her.

A 31st Street Northeast man, 28, was jailed Oct. 6 on a domestic violence warrant when taken into custody at his home.

A felony domestic violence charge was filed against a 28th Street Northeast man, 38, after he allegedly slapped his girlfriend and pushed her to the ground Oct. 4.

Wayne County

Wayne Sheriff

Breaking and entering

Jewelry valued at $3,550 was reported stolen Oct. 9 from a residence in the 13900 block of Burkhart Road, Baughman Township.

Thefts

Tools worth $5,040 were reported taken Oct. 15 from the Dutch Quality Store, 18012 Dover Road, Paint Township.

Tools valued at $2,700 were reported stolen Oct. 11 from a shed in the 6100 block of Massillon Road, Paint Township.

The owner of J&R Trailer Sales, 10828 Dover Road, Salt Creek Township, reported Oct. 3 that someone tried to pay them without sufficient funds in an account.

Wooster

Breaking and entering

A radio and a GPS system valued at $299 were reported taken Oct. 16 from a car in the 1600 block of Hickory Lane.

A snow blower valued at $300 was reported stolen Oct. 9 from a shed in the 400 block of College Avenue.

The owner of Hair Designers & Tanning reported Oct. 14 that she found a file on the ground and pry marks on the rear door of her business at 424 N. Market St.

Two computers, a video recording system and other items worth $2,908 were reported stolen Oct. 14 from Church of the Nazarene, 3100 Oak Hill Road.

Burglaries

A television worth $260 was reported taken Oct. 14 from a residence in the 200 block of Mulberry Street.

A Woodland Avenue resident reported Oct. 15 that someone tore a hole in a screen to unlock a door but nothing was taken.

Forgeries

Someone deposited a check for $1,292 into an account and withdrew $292 on Oct. 15 at First National Bank, 4192 Burbank Road. Another check for $1,156 was deposited. The owner of the account said someone forged his name to the checks. A police report said a similar incident occurred Oct. 6 when someone deposited a check for $1,256 and $256 was withdrawn in cash.

Identity fraud

A 22-year-old Wooster man reported Oct. 15 that he believes a family member changed his passwords to his email and Facebook accounts.

A Wooster woman, 69, reported Oct. 15 that someone used her credit card to purchase items worth $16 in Mexico.

Robbery

A 22-year-old Wooster man reported Oct. 16 that four people assaulted him in the 400 block of E. Larwill Street.

Thefts

The owners of Mr. Js Lunch Box reported Oct. 16 that someone took a business checkbook, forged signatures and wrote eight checks for $3,538 which were cashed at PNC Bank.

Someone forged a name Oct. 12 on checks for $602 on a closed account at Commercial & Savings Bank, 3562 Commerce Parkway, a police report said.

A 1985 Geo worth $1,000 was stolen Oct. 12 from a yard in the 700 block of Spruce Street and the driver fled from police.

A Cardinal Court woman reported Sept. 19 that someone she knew stole and used her food stamp card.
