BATH TWP.: After weeks of searching, Bath Township has a new administrator.

Township trustees have selected Vito Sinopoli for the post out of 33 applicants.

In a statement, trustees say they chose the candidate who would be best for Bath Township — both now and for the future.

“We have tried to be very, very thorough,” said Trustee Becky Corbett about the selection process. “The trustees tried to make this a very careful and all inclusive process which included objective testing throughout. All three of the finalists were very capable of taking on the role of administrator.”

Exact details of when Sinopli will be taking on the administrator’s role are still to be resolved, said Corbett.

“He has obligations with the police department to be worked out,” said Corbett. “We want to do what is best for the police department and for the administration.”

Sinoploi, who grew up in Bath and has been a Bath police officer for 27 years, was one of the three finalists for the job along with interim Administrator Bill Snow and current township Fiscal Officer Sharon Troike.

Sinopoli, in addition to his law enforcement experience, previously operated a residential and commercial construction business.

In addition, Sinopoli is a licensed attorney and has maintained a private practice in Summit County. He was recently selected to the 29th class of Leadership Akron, an organization committed to improving the leadership skills of local government employees and other professionals.

The search for a new administrator began in July when Administrator Bill Snow announced plans to retire at the end of August.

Snow said he was retiring to ensure he could collect his Public Employee Retirement System pension before changes were implemented. Snow said he was hopeful that trustees would rehire him to the post.

During the search process, trustees appointed Snow as interim administrator, from Sept. 1 through March 31, to ensure an orderly transition.

Trustees said that Snow will continue in his interim position and work with Sinopoli through the transition.
