Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Rocky Brook Drive man, 19, was charged with theft. Police said the man stole a gun from a home while visiting.

A Hillwood Avenue man, 35, was charged with receiving stolen property, possessing weapons while intoxicated and discharging a firearm. Police said officers responded to a call for a man with a gun. Once on scene, officers were able to order the man out of the house. The man was taken into custody and told officers where to find the gun and they recovered two handguns.

A Vernon Odom Boulevard man, 25, was charged with possessing weapons illegally, discharging a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said officers responded to the man’s house for a shooting. The man was shot in the middle finger of his left hand. He first reported that he was shot, then later recanted and told officers he accidentally shot himself. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Officers recovered digital scales and a handgun. The man also has a prior felony conviction.

A Brittain Circle man, 33, was charged with possession of crack cocaine and marijuana. Police said the man was stopped in the parking lot of a gas station on East Avenue where he attempted to swallow crack cocaine. Officers also recovered crack cocaine, marijuana and a digital scale.

A North Forge Street man, 44, was charged with possession of crack cocaine. Police said the man was stopped at Sweitzer Avenue and Stanton Street for running a stop sign. He gave officers consent to search his car. Officers recovered a rock of crack cocaine on the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

A Cornell Street woman, 45, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a drug instrument and possession of drugs. Police said the woman was stopped for improper registration at Diagonal Road and Superior Street. She was found to be driving on a suspended license. Officers found methadone, Suboxone and Soma pills in her purse. Officers also recovered syringes and digital scales between the front seats.

A Frances Avenue man, 22, and a Fountain Street man, 19, were charged with forgery and uttering. Police said the men were seen passing a counterfeit $100 bill at a downtown bar. When questioned about the bill, the Frances Avenue man admitted to paying his bar tab with the fake bill. Officers also found another fake $100 in the man’s possession.

A Garfield Heights man was charged with willful fleeing, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana. Police said the man led officers on a car chase that ended at North Firestone Boulevard and Coventry Street. The man ran from the vehicle. Following a brief foot chase, the man was apprehended. Officers recovered more than 11 grams of marijuana in his possession. A Davies Court man, 25, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Officers found a loaded .40-caliber pistol under the passenger seat where the man was sitting.

A White Avenue woman, 24, was charged with forgery, tampering with records, misrepresenting identity, driving under suspension and child restraint. Police said on Oct. 27, the woman was a driver in a traffic stop and was issued a citation for child restraint. The woman also gave false information to the officers.

An Ottawa Avenue woman, 42, was charged with possession of crack, tampering with evidence, possession of an open container in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said the woman was stopped for a traffic violation at Curtis Street and Stanton Avenue. The woman had crushed crack into her seat and swallowed some. After she was taken into custody, a search of her vehicle revealed the crack on her seat, a crack pipe, straw and plastic baggie.

A Ritzman Court woman, 21, was charged with obstructing justice. Police said the woman hindered the apprehension of a person suspected of a felony. She lied to officers about the suspect being in her apartment. Police said she was warned several times, but continued to lie and hindered the arrest.

A Lawton Street man, 18, and a South Hawkins Avenue man, 19, were charged with attempted burglary. Police said the men were caught trying to break into an Idlewood Avenue residence. The South Hawkins Avenue man was also charged with burglary. Police said the man broke into a St. Michael Avenue residence and stole jewelry worth $5,500.

A Hart Street man, 44, was charged with robbery. Police said the robbery occurred on July 31 on South Arlington Street. The man is accused of punching the two victims several times following an argument. He then took their cell phones so they could not call the police. He was picked up on a warrant.

An Ashland Avenue woman, 21, was charged with auto theft and theft. Police said the woman and a man stayed the night at a person’s home and between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. they took property from the home and loaded it into the resident’s vehicle and left the residence. They sold some of the property to an unknown person. They then drove to New Philadelphia and sold more items to a GameStop store. Value of the items stolen was about $2,000. The woman and the man were apprehended in Jamestown, N.C., where they were arrested.

A West Crosier Street man, 21, was charged with felonious assault. Police said the man got into a confrontation with another man, grabbed a knife and stabbed him.

An Anderson Avenue man, 26, was charged with burglary. Police said the man broke into a Canadian Avenue residence and stole property. A Reed Avenue woman, 23, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said the woman was given the stolen jewelry and pawned it at Ounce of Gold in Arlington Plaza. Officers said the Anderson Avenue man is the woman’s boyfriend and the Canadian Avenue residence is the home of her sister. The value of the jewelry taken was over $1,100.

An Eastwood Avenue woman, 32, was charged with breaking and entering and burglary. Police said officers went to an Eastwood Avenue residence looking for the alleged perpetrator. They were informed that she was there sleeping and were told that she returned the night before with stolen items from the house next door. Officers said glass had been broken out of a door on the house and an unsecured garage door.

An Amherst Avenue man, 27, was charged with breaking and entering. Police said the man had stolen an engine block and scrapped it at United Salvage on Hazel Street for cash.

An Everton Drive man, 20, was charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. Police said the 20-year-old and another man forced their way into an Everton Drive residence and robbed the resident at gunpoint. They took cash and then fled the apartment.

A 35-year-old man was charged with breaking and entering. Police said the man broke into a garage and took the lawn mower.

Theft from the elderly

A McGowan Street man, 25, was charged with theft from the elderly and theft of a gun. Police said the man stole jewelry, collectible coins, savings bonds and a gun from a residence. He took the jewelry to Ounce of Gold to pawn it. He later told the resident of the theft and was arrested on Corley Street.

Domestic violence

An East Emerling Avenue woman, 24, was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence. Police said the woman stabbed a man during an argument.

A Johnston Street man, 32, was charged with domestic violence with a prior conviction. Police said the man was picked up on a felony warrant for domestic violence. The man is accused of smacking the mother of his child in the face on Nov. 6 and then leaving before the police arrived.

A Lake Street man was charged with domestic violence, obstructing official business and disorderly conduct.

A Carey Street man, 27, was charged with domestic violence and child endangering.

A Cole Avenue man, 36, was charged with domestic violence.

An Olalla Avenue man, 32, was charged with domestic violence.

An Evelyn Lane man, 37, was charged with domestic violence.

A Minson Way man, 37, was charged with domestic violence.

A Mineola Avenue man, 39, was charged with domestic violence.

A Lafollette Street woman was charged with domestic violence.

Barberton

Arrests

A Wooster Road West man, 49, was jailed Nov. 8 for felony domestic violence for allegedly hitting the mother of their child twice and pinning her face against a window while screaming at her.

A Barberton boy, 11, of 17th Street Northwest, was suspended from Barberton Middle School after he was accused of fighting with another student on the school playground and then admitting he had a knife in his possession. He was charged with possession of a deadly weapon at school.

Charges of domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed against an Akron man, 37, of Tyler Avenue, for an incident at a Diamond Avenue home Nov. 4.

Burglary

A furnace and water heater, total value $2,200, were reported stolen Nov. 6 from the Valley Avenue home of a deceased woman, police said.

Theft

Wiring and parts of a Clinton man’s freezer, total value $600, were stolen during a break-in at an East Robinson Avenue home, a Nov. 7 police report showed.

Bath Township

Arrest

A 30-year-old man was charged Nov. 14 with domestic violence and violating a protection order. He is accused of hitting his nephew in the face and knocking him out while trying to force his mother to pull the vehicle over on Interstate 77 so he could leave the car. The man also was violating a protection order by being with his mother.

Copley Township

Theft

A stolen 4-wheeler was found in the backyard of a Waycross Avenue resident Nov. 10. It was stolen from Tuscarawas County. It was later towed by Northern Ohio Towing.

Citizen assist

A 78-year-old man was found in a parked car off of state Route 21. He was still turning the wheel and braking as if he were actually driving the car. Responding officers had him transported to Akron General Medical Center.

Coventry Township

Burglary

A large-screen TV, a diamond ring and other jewelry, total value $3,000, were reported stolen Nov. 7 from a Finland Avenue residence.

Thefts

Two handguns, total value $2,200, were reported stolen Nov. 5 from a Bower Avenue man’s gun safe.

A Long Lake Boulevard resident said clothing, a purse and other items, total value $698, were stolen from her vehicle while parked at the home.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrest

A 34-year-old Buckingham Gate woman was charged Nov. 16 with domestic violence. She is accused of kicking her boyfriend in the face three times.

Burglary

A home in the 3100 block of Eighth Street was broken into Nov. 14. Valuables totaling $600 were taken.

Misuse of credit cards

A wallet was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of McShane Drive on Nov. 14 and a credit card from inside was used for unauthorized purchases totaling $150.

A Tewksbury Circle man reported Nov. 13 that someone used his debit card to make unauthorized transactions totaling more than $1,300.

Thefts

A Providence Boulevard man reported Nov. 15 that someone withdrew nearly $1,900 from his checking account without permission. The transactions took place in California.

The manager of a Kellybrook Drive group home reported Nov. 12 that more than $600 was missing from the bank accounts of two residents.

Fairlawn

Arrest

An Akron woman, 29, was arrested on a theft charge Nov. 13. She allegedly tried to steal $56.40 worth of merchandise from Dillard’s. She has been banned from Dillard’s indefinitely.

Theft

A Fairway Independent Mortgage employee, 56, told police someone stole his $1,100 laptop from his desk Nov. 10. He left it there because he thought he had locked the doors behind him.

Green

Arrest

A Mayfair Road man, 24, was jailed on warrants for forgery and theft Nov. 5 when arrested at his home.

Burglaries

Cash and other items, total value $15,900, were reported stolen Nov. 6 from a Bonshire Road residence.

A Max Drive woman said she was in the process of moving when a $500 computer was stolen from a Massillon Road home.

Several items, including a necklace and ring, with a total value of $750, were reported stolen Nov. 1 from a Massillon Road home.

A man told authorities Oct. 31 that a vacant South Winning Way home was entered and four guns and six electrical cords were stolen.

Hudson

Arrest

During a traffic stop on Stow Road near Barlow Road on Nov. 6, police discovered that the driver was wanted on a Summit County felony warrant. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Identity thefts

A Sherborne Lane couple reported a case of identity theft Nov. 10.

An Alexander Drive resident reported an incident of identity theft Nov. 9.

Suspicious activity

Parents waiting for their children’s school bus to arrive in a Darrow Road parking lot reported that a suspicious man has been sitting in a vehicle in the lot around the same time as the children are expected to arrive. Police are investigating.

Norton

Misuse of credit card

A 52-year-old Pikeview Drive woman reported Nov. 12 that a man she met through Craigslist used her debit card for more than $1,000 worth of unauthorized transactions.

Theft

An employee of Desiree, 4951 Wooster Road W., reported Nov. 11 that someone stole her wallet containing $350 in cash and a debit card from her purse. She suspects another employee.

Springfield Township

Arrests

An Avon man, 31, was jailed for felony theft Nov. 7 for a June 30 incident at Home Depot on South Arlington Road where prices were changed on copper pipe and tubing and paid for at the lower prices. Westlake police arrested the suspect on a Springfield warrant.

A 21-year-old Cross Way man argued with his father and punched him in the face, resulting in a domestic violence charge and jail on Nov. 4.

A Lakemore man, 32, of Osage Avenue, was jailed Nov. 3 for domestic violence, inducing panic and unlawful restraint for an incident at the GetGo station on Canton Road involving a woman.

Soliciting charges were leveled against three Akron women Nov. 2 during a sting operation at the Red Roof Inn on South Arlington Road. The suspects were age 31 of West Market Street, age 29 of Conrad Avenue and age 24 of Ira Avenue.

A Griffith Road man, 42, was booked for domestic violence Nov. 1 for grabbing his wife by the hair and hitting her head several times on a bathroom wall before disabling vehicles and turning off power to the house, police said.

A Mayfair Road man, 40, was jailed for felony theft Oct. 26 and accused of stealing a Rolex watch and jewelry valued at $20,000 from his mother’s home and pawning the items.

Domestic violence warrant

A Laverne Lane man, 28, was being sought Oct. 29 on a domestic violence warrant for punching his girlfriend in the face at a Canton Road dental office, causing her to be taken to a hospital for treatment.

Breaking and entering

Two TVs, total value $500, were stolen from the 777 Sweeps skill game facility on Canton Road during a forced entry Nov. 5.

Identity fraud

A Krumroy Road resident told police Nov. 2 that someone opened an account through RBS Citizens bank for a $2,800 loan, using the victim’s information.

Forgery

Four checks were stolen from the KBI Building Solutions office on Alta Vista Avenue and the owner’s signature was forged to get $2,402 in cash, police were told Oct. 31.

Aggravated menacing

A Lakemore man, 40, of Ackers Avenue, was being sought Oct. 26 for calling a Lakemore residence several times and twice leaving threatening voice mails.

Arrests

A 36-year-old Lorain man was arrested Nov. 14 on a warrant for misuse of a credit card. He is accused of making $15,000 in unauthorized credit card purchases with a credit card from his former employee.

A 44-year-old Westberry Circle man was charged Nov. 10 with rape and domestic violence.

Identity theft

A Greenhill Drive man reported Nov. 13 that someone used his personal information to open an online account and purchase a computer.

Medina County

Wadsworth

Arrests

Three men, ages 18 to 20, were charged Nov. 14 with underage consumption of alcohol. A 21-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were charged with furnishing alcohol to underage people. The five were arrested at Legacy Inn, 810 High St.

Theft

A Kellyann Court woman reported Nov. 13 that jewelry was missing from her home.

Portage County

Kent

Arrests

A 19-year-old Aspen Court woman was charged Nov. 13 with complicity to commit aggravated burglary.

A 31-year-old Lake Street man was charged Nov. 13 with domestic violence.

A 23-year-old South Lincoln Street woman was charged Nov. 9 with assault and aggravated burglary.

Burglaries

A home in the 400 block of Harvey Street was broken into Nov. 13. Prescription medication and jewelry were among the items taken.

A home in the 1500 block of Olympus Drive was broken into Nov. 13. A television valued at $500 was taken.

Theft

A silver two-finger ring valued at $500 was stolen from the 100 block of East Main Street on Nov. 15.

Stark County

Hartville

Arrests

An Akron man, 27, of Dayton Street, was jailed in Stark County for domestic violence, criminal damaging and disorderly conduct Nov. 4 for allegedly throwing an object at a female roommate, causing physical harm.

A Springfield Township woman, 26, was booked for felony theft Nov. 2 after police said she admitted to taking cash and groceries, total value $1,034, from Giant Eagle on Edison Street where she worked.

Jackson Township

Arrests

A Radcliff Avenue Northwest man, 24, was jailed Nov. 7 on warrants charging him with identity fraud and receiving stolen property.

An Armistice Avenue Northwest man, 44, was jailed for domestic violence Nov. 4 for allegedly trying to physically harm his stepson in an argument about the stepson’s behavior.

A Canton man, 51, of Third Street Northeast, was jailed Nov. 2 on charges of rape and gross sexual imposition after he turned himself in to Jackson police.

A Wadsworth man, 45, of High Street, was jailed in Stark County on Nov. 2 by Jackson police after he was taken into custody by Norton police on a Jackson warrant.

Lawrence Township

Arrest

A McTaggart Street Northwest man, 26, was jailed for felony domestic violence and endangering children Nov. 5. He is accused of refusing to let his live-in girlfriend and their two children out of a bedroom, striking the woman with a bedroom door and pinning her and a daughter against a wall before the girlfriend escaped, police said.

Burglary

Guns, ammunition and a coin collection, total value $6,350, were reported stolen Nov. 13 from a residence in the 14700 block of Oak Grove Drive, Chippewa Township.

Inducing panic

It was reported Nov. 12 that someone posted messages on Facebook saying they would kill three students at Triway High School.

Theft

A Congress Township resident reported Nov. 13 that $7,000 was taken from his Franchester Road home.

Wooster

Arrests

A 45-year-old Wooster man was arrested Nov. 13 on a charge of trafficking in drugs as part of a drug bust of 33 people in Wayne County. A handgun, drugs and money were found in the man’s home in the 500 block of North Buckeye Street.

A Loudonville man, 37, was arrested Nov. 10 on charges of assault of a peace officer, resisting arrest and obstructing official business after he ran from police. A Taser was used to detain him in the 8000 block of Friendsville Road.

A 36-year-old Wooster woman was arrested Nov. 11 on a charge of domestic violence after her live-in boyfriend accused her of striking him at their home in the 300 block of North Grant Street.

Breaking and entering

A wallet was reported stolen Nov. 14 from a car in an unlocked garage in the 800 block of Thorne Avenue.

Burglaries

A 41-year-old Wooster man reported Oct. 25 that someone wearing a mask and carrying a gun took $2,300 in items from his home in the 300 block of East South Street.

A 12-pack of beer and $50 were reported stolen Nov. 13 from a residence in the 1600 block of Mechanicsburg Road.
