Arrests
A Cuyahoga Falls man, 34, was charged with theft. Police said the man took a vehicle without permission and was apprehended on Otto Street in the vehicle.
An Amherst Street man, 27, was charged with breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools and obstructing official business. Police said the man was found inside an East Tallmadge Avenue property and ran from officers. He was apprehended after a short foot chase.
A Manister Court man, 24, was charged with possessing weapons illegally, carrying a concealed weapon and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. Police said the man was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for expired plates. He was found to have two felony warrants for trafficking drugs. A loaded revolver was found in the glove box and the man admitted the gun was his.
An Excelsior Avenue man, 24, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, tampering with evidence, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possessing weapons illegally. Police said officers went to an Anderson Avenue residence after receiving a call that shots had been fired. The man was seen running when officers arrived and was told to stop but refused. Officers chased and apprehended him at a Georgia Avenue residence. The gun was found in front of the residence.
A Riverside Drive man, 27, was charged with burglary, attempted burglary and disorderly conduct. Police said officers were called to a North Howard Street home for a burglary in progress after the resident said a man had attempted to break in. Officers could see shoe prints on the door and damage to the frame. While at the residence, officers received a call from another North Howard Street residence for a burglary in progress. When they arrived, the man was on the front porch with his hand inside the front door window and the residents were holding onto his arm.
A Weathervane Lane man, 24, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Police said officers were called to the FirstMerit Bank on Merriman Road for two men loitering in the parking lot. Officers found the man to be in possession of a loaded pistol.
Two Alphada Avenue men, both 21, were charged with felonious assault. Police said the men pushed and hit another man in the head and knocked him to the ground unconscious. The victim was taken to the hospital.
An 18-year-old man and an Avon Street man, 21, were charged with attempted burglary and the 18-year-old was also charged with obstructing official business. Police said the men attempted to gain entry to a Harold Street residence.
A West Market Street woman, 25, and Fairlawn woman, 22, were charged with felonious assault. Police said the two women broke another woman’s nose.
A Delia Avenue man, 31, was charged with domestic violence and domestic violence menacing. Police said the man got into an argument with a woman, grabbed her arm and took her keys. The man also balled his fists and acted as if he was going to hit her and threatened to fight her in the street.
A Silvercrest Avenue man, 39, was charged with domestic violence and domestic violence menacing.
Bath Township
Arrests
Two juveniles were arrested on charges of theft Oct. 7. They are accused of stealing a wallet from a locker at a Medina Road fitness center then using a credit card from the wallet for unauthorized transactions totaling more than $200.
Assault
An employee of a Cleveland-Massillon Road business reported Oct. 8 that she was assaulted by a co-worker who hit her on the back of the head as she passed the woman’s desk. She said it happened after the suspect was reprimanded based on a complaint made by the victim.
Attempted burglary
Someone tried to enter a garage in the 3600 block of North Shore Drive. The suspect also cut the phone lines.
Someone attempted to gain entrance to a McVey Road home through a garage door between Sept. 29 and Oct. 6. The suspect took a grill and lawn mower from a shed on the property.
Sexual assault
A 20-year-old woman reported Oct. 4 that she was sexually assaulted in an unfamiliar area of Bath Township.
Copley
Arrests
An Alliance woman, 23, was charged with illegal panhandling in Copley on Oct. 8 with her 5-year-old daughter. Her husband, 33, who was watching their other children at a hotel, was arrested on an outstanding warrant with the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.
An Avon woman, 33, was arrested for driving under the influence Oct 5. Police said she hit a car on Copley Road, left the scene and was apprehended a short time later.
Thefts
A Chestnut Chase man, 86, told police on Oct. 8 that someone stole money from his wallet and his wife’s purse while they were eating dinner at Sumner on Ridgewood.
On Oct. 6 an unknown male stole two iPhones from the AT&T store on Medina Road. He walked in and removed an iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 from the display. Total value for both phones was $1,100.
Fraud
Two employees at Chemical Associates told police they received fraudulent checks in the amount of $9,168 and $9,000 on Oct. 9.
Cuyahoga Falls
Arrests
A 24-year-old Canton woman was charged Oct. 4 with menacing by stalking. She is accused of stalking a 32-year-old Front Street man, breaking into his apartment, punching him and pushing him down a flight of stairs.
A 27-year-old Akron man was charged Oct. 4 with assault. He is accused of striking a 35-year-old man with his vehicle in the 1700 block of State Road. The injured man refused treatment.
Arson
Someone started a fire in the fourth-floor girl’s restroom at Cuyahoga Falls High School. Toilet paper was set on fire, melting the plastic roller. Damage is estimated at $20.
Assault
A 32-year-old 20th Street woman reported Oct. 5 that she was assaulted by two men outside the back door to her residence.
Breaking and entering
Someone broke into a vacant home in the 3800 block of Northampton Road between Sept. 24 and Oct. 8. Toilet paper and silverware were taken.
Burglaries
A Madison Avenue home was broken into Oct. 7. It could not be determined if anything was taken.
An apartment in the 2200 block of Winter Parkway was broken into Oct. 3. More than $800 worth of valuables were taken. Some of the items were later recovered.
Sexual assault
A 34-year-old Akron woman reported Oct. 7 that a man approached her and placed his hands on her hips and buttocks while she was shopping at a Howe Road consignment store.
Thefts
A 26-year-old Winter Parkway woman reported Oct. 7 that she was robbed by a couple in a vehicle who asked for directions. When she got close to the vehicle, one of them grabbed her purse and the vehicle sped away.
A package was stolen from outside a home in the 900 block of Magnolia Avenue on Oct. 4. A neighbor told the home’s resident he saw a juvenile take something out of a box, then throw the box in a side yard.
A 17th Street woman reported that during a stay at a Cuyahoga Falls hospital between Oct. 7 and 9, someone stole four rings, valued at more than $12,000, from her purse.
Someone broke into a locked cash drawer in the Cuyahoga Falls High School library Oct. 8 and took about $400.
Fairlawn
Arrests
A Copley woman, 31, was arrested Oct. 8 on theft charges. Police said she tried to steal $386.93 worth of merchandise from Walmart by concealing the items in a shopping bag but was apprehended by store security.
A Twinsburg woman, 29, was issued a summons for theft Oct. 8. She allegedly tried to steal $492.42 worth of merchandise from Macy’s.
A manager, 36, at Walmart was arrested Oct. 7 on an outstanding warrant with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant was discovered because an officer was conducting a search for a missing 4-year-old girl and put the manager’s personal information into a computer.
An Akron woman, 25, was arrested Oct. 6 on a charge of assault. She is accused of striking another woman in the head while at Chuck E. Cheese on West Market Street. During the same incident officers had to subdue another fight between two men. One man, 47, was arrested. It was later revealed he had an active warrant through the Barberton Police Department.

A man was arrested for domestic violence Oct. 3 on Owen Brown Street.
An Ebury Lane woman was charged Oct. 3 with falsifying a police report. She is accused of lying to an officer when she filed a theft report Sept. 28.
Burglary
A Ravenna Street woman reported Oct. 4 that she arrived home to find a stranger inside. The suspect threw the woman to the ground and fled the home.
Identity theft
A woman reported Oct. 4 that someone attempted to use her credit card twice for transactions of more than $7,500 at a Tennessee university and a Wisconsin university. Both transactions were blocked by the credit card company.
Norton
Theft
About 40 signs supporting the Norton Fire Department levy were stolen from yards during the night of Oct. 3.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle
The manager of a Barber Road car dealership reported Oct. 12 that a woman took a car for a test drive and did not return. The phone number she left was disconnected. Akron police went to the address she gave and no one was there.

A 14-year-old East Celeste View Drive girl was charged Oct. 6 with domestic violence. She is accused of pushing and hitting her 33-year-old mother.
A 17-year-old Stow-Munroe Falls High School student was charged Oct. 8 with possession of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone. The boy is accused of having a nine-inch folding knife in his possession.
Sexual assault
A woman reported Oct. 6 that her 9-year-old son was sexually assaulted by a relative.
Burglary
Someone broke into an apartment in the 3000 block of Kent Road between Sept. 27 and Oct. 4. Cremated remains and other items were taken.
Identity theft
Someone used the personal information of an 88-year-old Hile Road man to open an Internet account between Jan. 16 and 24. The account was used for unauthorized purchases. The man’s daughter reported the crime Oct. 8.
Telecommunications fraud
A McCauley Road landscaper reported Oct. 8 that someone hacked into the company’s shipping account and sent fraudulent mailings with counterfeit checks, which requested the recipients cash the checks and wire cash to Texas.
Thefts
Cash and coins amounting to more than $500 were taken during the burglary of a home in the 1400 block of Gangle Drive on Oct. 8.
An 86-year-old Saratoga Boulevard woman was defrauded out of $40,000 between Aug. 8 and Oct. 8.
A Steels Pointe Drive hotel manager reported Sept. 24 that a guest left the hotel without paying a bill for nearly $5,000.
More than $500 was taken from a cash drawer at a Kent Road rental business Oct. 3.
An 18-year-old Barberton man was charged Oct. 6 with theft. He is accused of taking two TVs and a video game system from a Kent Road department store Sept. 15 and Oct. 6.

A 68-year-old Tallmadge man was charged Oct. 9 with disorderly conduct in a road rage incident that occurred on High Street.
Assault
Police are investigating an Oct. 9 report of assault at a Great Oaks Trail assisted living facility.
Misuse of a credit card
A Grandview Avenue woman reported Oct. 11 someone used her credit card to make unauthorized charges.
Thefts
Police are investigating a possible theft of medication reported by a facility in the 300 block of Johnson Road Oct. 11.
A High Street woman reported Oct. 10 that an Internet company called Alliance made an unauthorized $29.95 transaction through her checking account.

Arrests
A 35-year-old Elno Road man was arrested Oct. 7 on a Portage County warrant for trafficking marijuana.
A 36-year-old Lake Street man was arrested Oct. 5 on warrants for felony domestic violence, escape and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
A 26-year-old homeless man was arrested Oct. 5 on charges of breaking and entering, theft and criminal damaging.
Burglary
A video game system was taken during the burglary of a home in the 1600 block of East Main Street Oct. 9.
