Local artists are being asked to submit their design for a 2013 Akron Marathon commemorative poster.
Marathon Executive Director Anne Bitong said many local artists are already runners and spectators “and now they have a new opportunity to provide an exciting enhancement” to the annual event.
The poster will celebrate the 11th running of the Akron Marathon, scheduled for Sept. 28.
The artwork will also be featured in the event guide distributed to more than 100,000 households in Northeast Ohio and the winning artist will receive a framed print signed by the marathon staff and board.
Designs can be submitted until Aug. 23 by accessing the “2013 Poster Contest” tab on the Akron Marathon Facebook page.
All submitted artwork will be featured on Facebook, and fans will be able to choose their favorite design.
Voting will take place Aug. 26 through Sept. 5, and the entry with the most votes will be named the winner on Sept. 6.
For more information or to enter the contest, visit the marathon’s Facebook page or its website at http://akronmarathon.org.
The Akron Marathon includes four events: the full marathon, the half marathon, the five-person team relay and the kids fun run. Registration for the event is available at akronmarathon.org.
