Another member of the Warren Commission’s staff will discuss President Kennedy’s assassination with WCPN’s David Molpus at the Hudson Library & Historical Society at 7 p.m. Dec. 4.

Attorney, author and historian Howard P. Willens has just published a book about the inner workings of the Warren Commission, of which he was assistant counsel. The author was a 32-year-old attorney in the Criminal Division of the Justice Department when he was asked to assist in the organization and staffing of the commission.

After the commission’s report was published, he left the Department of Justice and in 1965 served as the executive director of the president’s Commission on Crime in the District of Columbia. In 1967, he joined a private law firm, where he has worked for more than 40 years. He lives in Washington, D.C.

Leading the interview will be Molpus, who joined WCPN as executive editor in 2006 after a long career at NPR.

Willens’ new book is History Will Prove Us Right: An Insider Reveals the True Story of the Warren Commission Investigation of the JFK Assassination. The Learned Owl Book Shop will be on hand with copies of the book for purchase and signing.

There will be a reception following the program in the library rotunda.

Call 330-653-6658, ext. 1010 to register for this free event.
